Jonna Slappendel Producer/Stylist/Artist

Jonna Slappendel, born in Gouda, the Netherlands, studied Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam and Fashion Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.

She has been working as a producer/project manager organizing creative events in the Netherlands and South Africa for over 20 years.

She started painting, first at the studio of Marijke Takken in Groet, the Netherlands. In SA she joined the Parkhurst Art Group of Peta Stride, took oil painting classes at Hazel Thompson studied portraits and participated in several workshops by Hermine Coleman.

Recently she organized and participated in both the first Parkhurst Art exhibition in Parkhurst and the second one in Saxonwold. In 2011 she became a member of Artists under the Sun.

Working in South Africa as a development consultant, she has been given workshops in creativity and life skills with several NGO’s in Soweto and will continue at Funda Centre, focusing on connections between communities, artists and designers and the combination of Arts & Crafts.

She has initiated and participated in several community and art projects in South Africa;
